Dry Eye
A healthy tear film is vital to our overall eye health. It provides protection, nourishment, lubrication, and a smooth optical surface for refracting light for clear and stable vision. The tear film is composed of 3 layers: an inner mucin layer, a middle aqueous layer, and top oily layer to slow tear evaporation. There are different types of dry eye: evaporative dry eye, aqueous deficiency, or a combination of both. Evaporative dry eye is often caused when meibomian glands do not work properly to produce enough healthy quality oils to slow the evaporative of the tears leading to tear film instability. Once we have identified the type of dry eye you have through a comprehensive assessment, we develop a personalized treatment plan for you.
